Linear electric motor (ironless, synchronous, brushless)
2 m/s | ULIM Series IDAM

This linear motor has no iron included in the primary part. The copper winding system is located on one side of a magnet rail or between two magnet rails (U-channel). U-channel linear motors are more common.

Because the primary part is ironless there are neither attractive nor disturbing forces between the primary and the secondary part. The U-channel design is superior to reduce the leakage flux surrounding the magnet system. This minimises the risk of being trapped by powerful magnets in the vicinity as well.

Special advantages for application:

* very short time constants (less than 1ms)
* very good control behaviour, smooth motion
* no cogging or attractive forces
* low moving masses and high acceleration capacity
