Instron's line of torque testers extends Instron's materials testing solutions by providing dependable torsion and axial-torsion testing capability.

These torsion testers utilize the familiar 5500 and 8800 electronics you've come to rely on. Available in capacities from 12 Nm (100 in-lb) through 13,000 Nm (120,000 in-lb) these test frames are versatile and easy-to-use for many applications including biomedical, automotive, aerospace and other industrial and consumer products.

The 55MT Series is a family of two table-top torsion testers.

55MT1 offers a 22 Nm (200 in-lb) capacity
55MT2 offers a capacity of up to 220 Nm (2,000 in-lb)
The 55MT Torsion Testers are based on a dual linear slide design, which provides for high torsional stiffness and minimal axial friction. The system torque cell is attached to a movable crosshead, which can be left free floating or clamped during testing. When left free floating, the user can apply an axial pre-load to the specimen using a weight and pulley arrangement. Closed loop servo control of the electromechanical drive is provided by Instron's standard 5500 electronics and Partner torsion software.
