OPTIPACT - non-contact rotational speed measurement in wind turbines
• non-contact measurement principle.
• measurement uncertainty <1%
• rotational speed control
• compact design 98x42x47 mm.
• low maintenance effort.
Application
The amount of power generated in a wind turbine directly depends on the speed of the rotor. For a smooth operation and maximum efficiency, velocity control requires precise rotational speed data. The current commonly used solution of using proximity sensors and shaft encoders needs a complicate mechanical set up. The OPTIPACT from the company INTACTON GmbH, offers the possibility of a non-contact speed measurement with high precision and low maintenance. With the measured signals the speed control and therefore the optimized efficiency of the wind turbines can be realized.
Installation
In wind turbines, the OPTIPACT is installed in the simple way that the camera is pointed to the moving hollow shaft at 40 mm working distance. The tolerance of the working distance is 10%. Thus the easy installation of the sensor reduce maintenance effort significantly.
Function
The measuring principle is based on a correlation method. By observing the surface by the camera movement direction and the velocity are analyzed and calculated from the moving pictures. The exact rotational speed can be calculated by considering the diameter. If a reference point is added, the rotary position of the shaft can also be determinate.
