IR’s IRS2548D LED control IC was awarded “Leading Product” in the 2011 EDN China Innovation Awards in the Power Device and Module – LED category. The IRS2548D Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) control IC for energy efficient applications for high power Light Emitting Diode (LED) illumination including LED street lighting, stadium lighting and theatrical lighting combines Power Factor Correction (PFC) and half-bridge driver in a single IC. The device offers greater than 88 percent efficiency for a 40 V / 1.3 A HBLED load to deliver a higher efficiency solution compared to alternative Flyback converter solutions at power levels above 60 W.

Additionally, the IRF6811 and IRF6894 DirectFET®plus power MOSFETs have been named “Best Energy Conservation Solution” at the EEPW Editor's Choice Awards. The DirectFET®plus power MOSFETs feature IR’s new generation of silicon that sets a new standard in efficiency for 12V input synchronous buck applications including next-generation servers, desktops, and notebooks. The IRF6811 and IRF6894, reduce on-state resistance (Rds(on)) and gate charge (Qg) compared to previous generation devices to significantly improve efficiency up to 2 percent. In addition, the devices offer ultra-low gate resistance (Rg) enabling further efficiency improvement by minimizing switching losses in DC-DC converters.
