installation in stock lines or tanks where occasional
sampling of the contents is necessary. The valve
is threaded for installation in a half coupling that
has been welded into the line or tank. This allows
the valve face to be even with the interior wall of
the pipe or vessel, thus eliminating any dead
space for buildup of material. A sharp metal to
metal seat severs fibrous material, which may be
suspended in the liquid. A spring located around
the valve stem holds the valve in the closed position.
The handle is pulled to compress the spring
and open the valve. Release of the handle closes
the valve. Standard construction is a cast stainless
steel body with a carbon steel handle.
