JDSU offers both fixed and variable attenuators. The fused fiber fixed attenuator offers a range of attenuation for broadband applications in C, L, and S bands. The plug-in, miniature variable attenuator can be adjusted manually. The variable slope and the voltage-controlled attenuators use a variable filter and a very precise stepper motor. These components have been installed throughout the network and are proven to be very highly reliable. The newer MEMS based variable attenuator offers very fast response in a smaller size.
