A separable shim is an adjusting shim in which the strips are glued together at discrete points along their edges. This procedure can be used where the thickness of the individual strips becomes too great to allow easy peeling. In certain circumstances, this principle can be more effective than traditional peelable shims, as Shimpack has the advantage of allowing each component removed to be used on its own.
