When under load, every live centre's tapered shank deflects at the point where the Morse taper emerges from the tailstock.In our design principle of head bearings the unit of centrepoint and bearings is placed in front of this deflection diameter. Therefore the tapered shank bending stress is not transmitted to the centrepoint.
