Plastic self-aligning ball bearings are interesting and useful. The trajectory of the outer ring is spherical. Because the center of curvature corresponds to the center of the bearing, the inner ring, the ball and the retainer may freely rotate around the bearing center, and so, they are self-aligning. This type of bearing is increasingly being used, as much as deep groove bearings, in the latest sophisticated devices.
