Polygon Tapered Shank
The polygon tapered shank is a quick-change tooling system of the second generation. Based on the experience of existing modular systems for both turning as well as for milling and drilling, the PSK is equally effective for all three clamping methods. It is the first modular tooling system for all types of machine tools.

PSK tools can be easily built together to numerous tool combinations. Thus tool inventory and investment costs are minimized and the tool handling is simplified. The same tools can be used in all machines providing highest flexibility and minimum inventory.

Increased productivity thanks to maximum stability. An increase in feed of 0.1 mm/r for example, can increase the productivity by 250 extra machining hours per year. An improved surface quality and a longer tool life result in products with a higher constant quality.

The tapered polygon with location face is pre-clamped in the clamping unit with a clamping force of several tons. Hereby an extremely stiff joint with regard to the bending and torsional forces is achieved. The high precision of the coupling guarantees a repeatable accuracy of 2 µ in the X, Y and Z axis. This repeatable accuracy refers to one and the same cutting head and the same clamping unit.
