Kuhnke FIO comprises of a number of I/O components that aid in linking together various process signals in an EtherCAT system. The unit has a bus coupler to facilitate smooth functioning along with different I/O modular devices. The bus coupler has the important function of transferring the transmission physics via the twisted pair to the E-Bus that is LVDS. The LVDS modules thus receive system supply from the coupler. Typical connections in office environments are such that one end of the connection consists of 100 BASE TX routes and the other end of the connection consists of the sequentially arranged Kuhnke FIO components. This enables perfect retention of EtherCAT protocol till the final I/O component. The connections between the incoming and outgoing routes at the end of each I/O module are automatically shut off. This facilitates the connection between the next EtherCAT system and the secondary port of the bus coupler. This connection is also via 100 BASE TX lines.
