The Light Scattering Detector Sedex 80LT was developed for HPLC applications. Common fields of application include the analysis of non-UV active compounds such as: sugars, fats, surfactants, polymers, pharmaceuticals, amino acids or peptides as well as natural compounds. The analytes are being detected after evaporation of the mobile phase and thus become nearly independent from eluent composition.
The low temperature technology works in three steps: 1. Nebulization of the effluent and dicsrimination in favor of small mist droplet fraction in order to minimize background noise; 2. Evaporate the eluent at low temperatures to avoid thermal decomposition of delicate analytes; 3. Gas supported focussing of the analyte stream to increase sensitivity during light scattering detection and to avoid contamination of the optical unit.
