Ball Lens
BK7, Quartz and Sapphire types - Ball lenses as the name suggests are complete spheres. Ball lenses are widely used for focusing and coupling light into, and out of, fibres. Knight Optical stock sapphire ball lenses are interesting in that the high refractive index of sapphire gives quite low spherical aberration and can be used from 200nm up to 5000 nm. Knight Optical stock ball lenses are offered in quartz versions, have good UV and IR transmission from 185nm (UV Grade Fused silica) up to 2000 nm. BK7 ball lenses are perfect for visible applications from 350nm through the near infrared.

As well as Knight Optical stock ball lenses, we also have a full range of ball lenses available in a variety of ceramic, UV and NIR materials, optical glasses such as BAF-8, Lasfn-9, technical glasses such as B-270 and Borosilicate and Cubic Zirconia ball lenses. These are available in a full range of diameters. We can also offer custom ball lenses in a range of diameters and materials please enquire.
