Planar E&I cores are result of miniaturization of Switched Mode power supplies being integrated into PCB philosophy. The conventional windings can be replaced by printed circuit tracks directly onto the PCB. This way gives an opportunity to overcome height restrictions. Planar E cores are recommended for forward and push-pull converters. Cores are available in a variety of material grades with or without air-gap.
