The Laser Beam Sensor (LBS) uses a separate emitter and receiver. A laser beam is projected from the emitter and through a series of lenses to collimate the beam. The beam shape is determined by factory set diaphragms, which can be selected by the user to fit their application. The portion of light emitted that reaches the receiver depends on the dimensions of the object in the light beam. The measurement resolution of the detector is 1000 steps in either direction at measurement rates up to 10 kHz. The LBS outputs 4 - 20 mA corresponding to the amount of beam detected.
