The field of application for this tools can be found in all high-end thermoplastic components with particular surface requirements, e. g. for optical, medical or advertising use. The task is outline or flange milling in thermoplastic resins like Acryl or Plexiglas® achieving the best possible transparent surface. Usually, monocrystalline diamonds or even natural diamonds are used for ultimate surface finishing. But being very expensive and limited in their size, those diamonds cannot be used for typical single-flute endmills. The solution is LMT Belin’s SAPHIR endmill.
