The Magaldi Casting Cooler (MCC®) is an air casting cooling system able to improve cooling performance while ensuring safe, continuous and reliable operation.
Typically installed at the outlet of shake-outs, rotary or vibrating drums, the MCC® consists of a steel belt conveyor (Superbelt®) provided with covers and hoods to form a cooling tunnel.
Held under negative pressure, the tunnel is crossed by a stream of ambient air flowing at controlled speed.
The MCC® system stands out for its cooling effectiveness, low power consumption and operational dependability.
Based on the most thermodynamically and energetically efficient cooling principle, the MCC® is usually provided with a 3-year warranty. Experimental tests can be carried out in Magaldi’s factory to validate the cooling performance obtained by proprietary simulation codes.
The highest operational dependability is guaranteed by the multi-link design of the belt, manufactured according to a “damage-tolerant” approach which allows continuous operation.
The MCC® system can be integrated by the Magaldi Integrated Supervision System (MISS®) to automatically control the cooling parameters according to the performance of the upstream moulding line.
Finally, downstream the cooling tunnel, the uncovered part of the MCC® can be used to easily de-gate and sort cold castings, without the need for a further conveyor.
Operators work in a healthy and comfortable environment, with practically no exposure to noise <80 dB(A) or dust. Unlike vibrating conveyors, the Superbelt® runs smoothly, without vibrations and shaking. Hence, silica dust spread in the air is drastically reduced.
