Samarium-cobalt magnet (SmCo) Magma Magnets Manufacturing
Alloys of the Lanthanoid group of elements (so-called 'rare earth' elements') are the most advanced of the commercialized permanent magnet materials. Collectively known as rare earth magnets are the Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) types and Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) types. Within each of these types are a variety of different grades which span a wide range of properties and application requirements.
Both NdFeB and SmCo are available in sintered as well as bonded forms. The bonded form of the material can be produced with close tolerances requiring little or no finishing. The sintered form usually requires some finishing operations in order to adhere to close mechanical tolerances.
