Malvern® Instruments’ extensive knowledge and experience of laser diffraction is encapsulated in the Mastersizer® 2000, an automated instrument used worldwide for particle size measurement. Easy-to-use, with exceptional reproducibility, the Mastersizer 2000 is the preferred option across a wide range of industries for measuring wet and dry samples in the size range 0.02 – 2000 µm.

The system was developed to meet industry’s need for global comparability of results, regulatory compliance, maximum efficiency in the laboratory and optimum deployment of skilled personnel. In support of these requirements, the system is fully automated and easy to use, delivering clear information based on standardized procedures.

Spraytec™ delivers real-time, high-speed measurements that enable the complete characterization of both continuous and pulsed spray events. Its data acquisition rate of 10 kHz (a 100-microsecond time resolution) allows extremely accurate analysis of the dynamics of spray atomization and dispersion. The rapid changes in particle size that take place during inhaler operation can also be followed.

An extended size range from 0.1 to 2000 µm, using just two lens systems, enables the routine characterization of broad size distributions, with a dynamic range of more than 1000:1 covered by each lens. Patented multiple scattering analysis ensures accurate measurements at high spray concentrations, where traditional laser diffraction systems would fail.
