For multiple applications in tight spaces, Mentor has developed a miniature 4 section horizontal display. The miniature display,is designed for the application of CHIP LEDs, type 0805 or smaller.
Rotated through 90°, the light conductors have a spherical exit radiation surface with a diameter of 2 mm. A black shield prevents leakage radiation to neighbouring light conductors and also permits the simultaneous use of mixed colour LED displays. The four section light conductor made from clear transparent PC has a spacing of 2.54 mm between the light exit pupil centres, the width is a mere 1.95 mm. Suitable applications are anywhere where the circuit board is required to be horizontal to the light exit pupils. With an operating temperature range from –40 °C to +85 °C, the display has an ESD protection rating of ≥8KV. The length of the cylindrical light exit pupil is variable and can be supplied in lengths of from 2.8 to 12.8 mm.
