Based on the principle of light reflection, MENTOR developed opto-electronic constructional elements with switch and key function. Independent from exterior influences every reflective material triggers functions at a distance of 30 mm already thus granting an almost unlimited number of applications of the sensor-switch components. Approaches or contacts of the detector face reflect the radiated infrared light and causes variation of the signal level. The electronic evaluation first operates the proxy output at low-impedance thus allowing current flow of up to 200 mA. At the approach of the initiating elements up to 5 – 10 mm and contact of the sensor surface respectively the “touch-output”, which can be set by the user as switch or push button, additionally toggles. The housing measures 10 x 10.4 x 25 mm. There is no abrading of the component, because of missing movable parts. A two colored LED provides visual feedback for the user, indicating the particular via a light guide.
