Description

The rain gauge with a tipping bucket is an instrument that measures the amount of precipitation or the amount of rainfall during a storm. This measurement is performed on a surface of 1m2. The height of the water level, in millimetres, indicates the amount of rainfall per square metre. The precipitation measurement is based on the location of the rain gauge. It is best to choose a site protected from gusts and cross winds. Wherever possible, care must be taken to avoid sites where the rain gauge may be clogged by leaves or other debris. The rain gauge can be heated (for snow) or not. Several types of rain gauges can be installed depending on the desired accuracy and the usage environment: METEO OMNIUM can tailor the type of sensor to be installed depending on the situation. The reception cone should be cleaned regularly (twice a year). Dirt, debris or other leaves must be removed from the funnel and bucket, if necessary. The wiring should be checked periodically as well as sensor balancing to ensure the accuracy of measurements.
