Optical Shutter, <80 µs Response Time

The 50075 Optical Shutter isn't just a shutter, it also serves as an exposure control device and a high speed chopper. This bi-stable system changes state when the polarity of the 5 VDC driving voltage is changed. It has an undetermined state when not energized. Response time is an impressive <80 µs. The 50075 mounts directly to Oriel 1.5 Inch Series female flanged instruments. A 6.5 ft. (2 m) BNC lead connects the shutter to your square wave generator.

Electronic Fast Shutters

This is our fastest family of electronic shutters; the shortest pulsewidth is 2 ms. We use them for laser pulse gating, precise exposure control, CCD frame transfers or simply to protect detectors from saturation. Exposures are highly repeatable and accurate; repetition rates are variable up to 150 Hz. The blades are coated with AlMgF2 for high reflectance (decreases the radiation absorbed on the input side); they are overlapped to prevent light leakage.

Electronic Safety Shutters

Most of our light sources produce UV radiation; the arc and deuterium sources produce very intense ultraviolet. Exposure, even for short periods of time, can cause severe skin and eye burns. It is best to shut off the source when it is not in use.

Electronic Shutter, 10 mm Aperture, Switch and TTL Control

The 71455 Shutter System is the integrated shutter from our Oriel Monochromators and Spectrographs, packaged in a flange mounted enclosure with a 5 V power supply. It is "normally closed." The aperture is 0.4 inches (10 mm) in diameter. The thin, 0.8 inch (20 mm), profile allows flange or rod mounting in the middle of a tight optical train.
