Designed as a transmitter and receiver, it guides the light directly to the object via fiber-optic cable. This is ideal in cramped spaces or in difficult installation environments, since the electronics unit can then be mounted a long distance away. With different optical fibers, one can determine whether the light beam between the transmitter and the receiver has been interrupted. This way, simple presence measurements are possible.
