Computer numerical controls (CNC) for machine tool
M70 MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EUROPE

The new M70 CNC series from Mitsubishi Electric sets new standards for the next generation of machine tools. The panel-in CNC unit features the latest RISC CPU technology and a modern high-speed graphics chip. Multi-channel support and a range of high-speed and high-accuracy functionsl come as standard equipment, resulting in faster unit processing times and higher precision for the machined parts. The new M70 CNC series offers a choice of two drive systems: The advanced MDS-D/DH series (one of the world's fastest servo/spindle drive systems), and the lower-priced MDS-SVJ3/SPJ3 series. Both drive series' communicate via the same high-speed optical servo network. Interpolation with a 10 nano resolution is implemented in the drive and is functional even when program increments are specified in micrometers. A number of specially-developed control functions automatically minimise synchronisation deviations caused by mechanical backlash and vibrations.
Another outstanding feature is the new user interface structure and layout of the M70 CNC controller for user-friendly operation, programming and configuration. On the M70 series machine setup is performed with the MS Configurator servo tuning tool, which can be run on any standard PC and connected to the M70 controller via a normal Ethernet link. MS Configurator can automatically optimise a number of key parameters, including the speed loop gain, position loop gain and time constants of the drive system.
The software tools NAVI MILL and NAVI LATHE make operation on the shop floor very simple. The systems automatically make technology setting suggestions for the user for parameters like spindle speed, cutting speed, feed rate.
