Vitrified Diamond is a recent development in the field of superabrasive manufacture and has provided a new and exciting challenge to the Molemab Vitrified Superabrasive team. The driving force behind this development has been the tendency in the marketplace away from tool materials like HSS towards longer life tools in Tungsten Carbide. Thus the tool producer requires free cutting grinding wheels with the ability to remove harder materials faster and to tighter tolerances. Already Molemab has gained valuable experience with successes in applications ranging from internal grinding to profile grinding of gear hob cutters, flute grinding of milling tools, the “Diamab” range of PCD grinding wheels to cylindrical roll grinding of coated rolls for the paper industry with wheels up to 900mm in diameter.
