NICOMATIC metal domes are for use on keypads, membrane switches, front panels and any type of man/machine interface or inside thin environments. They benefit from the Switch'Air™ feature, which allows a cushion of air between the domes so as they do not stick together. The geometry of the 4-LEG dome enables to place more components onto the PCB. 4-LEG domes can also be used on a one side PCB: the central contact point supply track can be placed between 2 legs, there is no need for metal holes.
The main advantages are a better SWITCH'AIR™ effect, an improved domes stability one on top of the other inside a tube and less aggressivity on PCB surfaces.
Generally, the SWITCH'AIR™ notch developed by NICOMATIC provides substantial gains on productivity thanks to an original concept of placement in plastic tubes, either manual or automatic. If taken manually from a bulk packaging, the domes are rather difficult to collect for many reasons. Taken from tubes, they are "dust proof", easy to store and trace, present a simple and accurate placement and are easy to collect from and back to the tubes.
