Energy saving asynchronous electric motor
IE 2 Motor, 0.75 - 375 kW
NORD
The efficiencies required by the new standards can only be achieved by the increased use of materials and more sophisticated production techniques, as the manufacturing optimisation of the sheet metal stampings is largely exhausted.
NORD uses a 3-Point concept:
- Use of more active material
- Use of higher quality sheet metal with less losses
- Increase of the copper filling factors with simultaneous reduction in size of the winding heads through optimised production processes
This results in increased efficiency of the motors, less production of waste heat and an increase in the operating life of the motors. In addition, economic benefits may result (e.g. though the use of a smaller motor).
Thanks to pseudo symmetrization of the measurement point, efficient operation is also possible above the measurement point. Therefore the lower losses of IE2 motors allow operation at 125% power, which is also not thermally critical. For our customers this means that this operating range can also be included in the planning for the application.
As the start-up and breakdown torque has also been increased, it is recommended that the design is optimised and safety factors reduced or removed entirely, as the motor has permanent reserves. If these reserves are consistently utilised, economic benefits result as in many cases smaller sizes may be used.
For motors with several rated voltages, the regulation requires that the efficiency for the most unfavourable measurement point is stated. NORD 4-pole IE2 motors have sufficient reserves, so that standard motors can continue to be supplied for the wide voltage range.
