The RF-series handheld terminals are used in hundreds of applications around the globe. The RF601 system consists of radio handhelds that communicate in real time with the host system via base stations. The application software is running on the host system, which eliminates the need to program the handheld units. It also makes software development and updating extremely easy.
System operation
Nordic ID RF601 handhelds are part of a unique wireless data collection system. The system consists of radio handsets, which are used to communicate with the host system via a base station using a very efficient communications protocol. The host system can be just a PC or a more complex computer system. The base station (or several base stations) can be connected to the host system using an RS232 serial interface or with a LAN using the Ethernet-Rs485 converter.
Nordic ID RF651 hand terminals function otherwise almost similar to RF601 handhelds but as a radio communication they use the globally accepted Bluetooth radio network, either via a Bluetooth base station or via a Bluetooth dongle.
The application software runs by the host system, the handheld appears to it like a wireless keyboard/display/scanner. This eliminates the need for programming the handheld units, thus making software development and updating extremely easy and allowing software to be flexible in application. And more, the communication is rapid because it is real time.
