If the spring plate is mounted in parallel, the force of the individual plate springs can be multiplied by the number of plates springs. That is, great spring force for short spring travel.
If the spring plate is mounted as a column, the force of the individual plate springs is equal to the force of the whole column. That is low spring force for a long spring travel.
