Die makers must test dies manufactured as well as produce their pre-series parts using the appropriate press. Presses must be as similar as possible to customer production presses, while at the same time being useful for all customers. This requires these machines to be flexible, which is why die tryout presses are almost always hydraulic. With today's new hydraulic systems, it is possible to stamp at speeds comparable to those of mechanical presses. The "Multi-curve" press makes it possible to simulate the curves produced by different mechanical presses, as well.
