When grinding spices in form of nuts, seeds, leaves or roots, low temperatures and gentle grinding are important to preserve essential oils. With the Contra-Selector Mill, type PPS spices with a high oil content, sticky or moist, can be easily size-reduced in a single step. Due to the cool grinding process, losses in aroma are reduced to a minimum. Depending on the size of the feed material, precutting with a knife mill, type PS, is neccessary.

Method of operation:
The feed material is centrally introduced into the Contra-Selector Mill via a material inlet. Size reduction is performed by impact and shearing forces between the beater plates of the impeller and the counter or uni-directionally rotating screen basket. The fineness of the end product is determined by the relative speed of the impeller to the screen basket and by the type of the grinding elements installed. Material is discharged straight down out of the mill and is most often transported further pneumatically.
