Vehicle mount computer
Parvus
The rugged subsystem shown here was developed to support a mobile short-range air-defense system as a weapons display controller. It is based around a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) PC/104 computer architecture and a modified 1/2 ATR format aluminum chassis designed for avionics or military applications. Integrating a removable internal card cage assembly, this hardended system is flexibly designed for simple field retrofits, reconfigurations, and upgrades.
As shown in the photos, the unit incorporates a 1-piece 5x5 extrusion and an aluminum railed card cage with silastic shock isolators. Its NEMA 4X style endcaps were designed to accomodate front j-hooks and rear bushings in standard mounting locations for a modified 1/2 ATR chassis in an ARINC 404A tray for protection against harmful shock and vibration. The unit also incorporates internal breakout boards for its circular MIL-C-38999 connectors to improve performance under mechanical stress.
