Belt thickeners are continuous gravity filters with a screening belt which runs between two rollers and onto which the sludge to be dewatered is fed. An even distribution of the sludge as well as a gentle treatment of the polymer sludge are decisive factors to achieve a high rate of hydraulic throughput and a high degree of thickening at a low rate of polymer consumption.
