Originally designed for the illumination of transflective and transmissive Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD’s) the use of LED’s for backlighting has diversified to encompass a wide range of new applications. A spectrum of colours are available in two basic constructions: Chip On Board modules have the LED chips in a matrix arrangement placed directly beneath a diffuser surface and provide a bright, even, illumination. Modules are easily terminated via two pins.
