Short circuit locator for PCB
Polar Instruments
Invented by Polar, the TONEOHM has become synonymous with short circuit location on both bare and loaded PCBs. The instruments are used to locate the physical position of shorts to within a small area by PCB assemblers (particularly in conjunction with ATE) as well as bare board manufacturers. To locate shorts between planes on multilayer PCBs, Polar invented the VPS (Vector Plane Stimulus) technique. VPS is a non-destructive method of locating a short between two planes, allowing PCBs to be repaired with minimal work.
