Commonly known as a fill gas for colorful neon signs in outdoor advertising professional displays, neon's other uses include glow lamps as visual indicator devices, voltage regulation, and industrial lasers. In combination with other rare gases, neon is finding increased application in special fluorescent lamps. Neon is also used in spark chamber mixtures, useful in atomic particle research.
