Stepper motor driver
max. 1/3 HP (300 W) | MD125 Series
Pro-Dex, Oregon Micro Systems
The Oregon Micro Systems MD125 is a high-end micro-step motor driver with selectable microstep resolutions. The MD125 is small, compact and robust and provides available step rates range from full-step to 256 microsteps. The MD125 driver is capable of delivering up to 1.5 million microsteps per second to the step motor and an output current from 0.1 - 7 Amps, operating from a supply voltage of 12 - 80 VDC. The MD125 is designed to run hybrid PM step motors rated from .1 to 14 amps per phase. When used with suitably sized motors, the MD125 can provide over one-third horsepower (300 watts) to the application.
The MD125 features an electronic 'circuit breaker' to help protect the driver from dangerous conditions. Over-current (winding shorts, etc.), over-temperature (insufficient heat sinking), and under-voltage are sensed by the MD125. When any of these conditions occur the MD125 shuts down and turns on a 'fault' LED to indicated the presence of the fault condition.
Measuring only 4"x 4.5"x .875" the MD125 is small and compact. It comes encapsulated in a heat conductive epoxy and encased in an anodizes aluminum cover. The result is an environmentally rugged package that resists abuse and contamination. The pin-out, size and mounting of the MD125 driver is compatible with the previous OMS microstep drivers; MD10A and MH10.
