Weights of one (or both in the case of the DVS-2) samples are measured by on-board electronics and continually transferred to the PC. This allows both kinetic data and equilibrium data to be acquired as the relative humidity is stepped up and down according to the desired protocol.
Various RH values are generated by PID controlled blending of two nitrogen gas streams, one dry, one wet.
The DVS-2's two sample balances side-by-side not only allow increased sample throughput, but also tightly controlled comparison between two samples or between sample and a known reference material. When the balances are combined into a single weighing unit they offer an extended mass range for a single sample.
The balance head environment is independently temperature-controlled to ensure stability over lengthy analyses. The sample chamber is of small overall volume yet still allow easy access to both sample pans. The chamber construction ensures rapid relative humidity changes when required to be altered by the program during an analysis.
