The Universal SPM (U-SPM) is the latest addition to Quesant’s SPM product line. The U-SPM design follows an extensible plug-in module concept. Listed below are the configuration options for the U-SPM: - Standard scanners with a wide range of XY and Z capability. - A metrology scanner - Probe modules for AFM, MFM/EFM, STM, and scanning conductance. - A liquid-cell probe module with accessories. - Standard and specialized sample holders. Unlike the Q-Scope, the U-SPM rasters the sample beneath a fixed probe. This limits the instrument to handling small samples— less than approximately 20 mm in diameter and 8 mm in height— but the tight mechanical path between the sample and the probe has the advantage of making it possible to readily achieve atomic resolution in STM and AFM The U-SPM is available as a complete separate system or as an upgrade to existing Quesant SPM systems.
