Our traction wheels are available in solid and segmental construction. Segmental traction wheels can significantly improve maintenance cycles, saving labor and downtime. Worn segments can be replaced one at a time without removing the chain, disassembling shaft and /or bearing assemblies or realigning hub placement. Both solid and segmented traction wheel bodies are precision machined from close-grained cast iron or steel. We significantly improve wear characteristics by induction case hardening around the entire circumference. Benefits of traction wheels include increased wear life of the chain and the wheel including an improved shock load absorption. Traction wheels can also be operated in both directions. They are typically used at the head end of elevator conveyance systems.
