The process viscometer PV100-TM06(250) works on the principle of a rotational viscometer with cylinder measuring unit.
Its basic components are a measuring head and a continuous-flow measuring unit connected by a flange sleeve. The measuring head holds the drive unit, which is either a controllable d.c. motor or a synchronous motor, as well as the torque sensor und the electronics producing the measuring signal.
The rotation is transmitted directly from the measuring head to the measuring bob, which is screwed into the measuring shaft. The measuring shaft is held in the flange sleeve in low-friction bearings.
The measuring bob rotates freely in the measured substance. To maintain the correctness of the displayed viscosity values, the diameter of the process vessel must be large in relation to the diameter of the measuring bob (10 times minimum).
To prevent a contamination of the measuring shaft bearings, a gas counter flow is led from the measuring head towards the measuring bob. The gas counterpressure to be applied through a threaded fitting in the flange sleeve must always be slightly higher than the process pressure.
The viscosity-proportional torque occurring on the measuring bob is measured in the measuring head and converted into an electric standard current signal 4...20 mA, which can be used for display and as a control signal.
The immersion measuring device is designed for use with open and closed vessels with low operating pressures. The immersion depth is determined by the length of the measuring bob.
