RINGFEDER® Friction Springs consist of a series of separate inner and outer rings with mating taper faces. Under the application of an axial load F the wedge action of the taper faces expands the outer rings and contracts the inner rings radially, allowing axial deflection.
An effective taper face i.e. one half inner ring and one half outer ring is defined as one element.
The rings are manufactured from high quality spring steel. They are rolled or turned, calibrated for size, hardened and tempered. The rings are then given a final dimensional check.
Before despatch, every complete spring is mounted according to the assembly drawing, several times block loaded and checked against diagram data.
CHARACTERISTICS OF RINGFEDER® FRICTION SPRINGS
1. Absorption/damping of high kinetic energies
2. Absorption of high kinetic energies at small component sizes
(e.g. overload protection)
3. Versatility in design
4. High spring work combined with low weight and volume
