CANlink GSM 2001/2101 uses the GSM/GPRS network for the mobile transmission of CAN data around the globe. CANlink GSM 2001/2101 devices can be deployed together with the Proemion communication management system for the global control and monitoring of mobile and stationary CAN bus systems. Typical application examples include fleet management, remote maintenance, and remote diagnosis around the globe via the Internet. An authenticated and encrypted protocol ensures the secure data transfer between CANlink GSM 2001/2101 and the Proemion Internet server. Moreover, since only data packets that are actually transmitted are subject to charges, this type of connection represents a very cost-efficient solution. Additionally, the position data of the receiver can be queried via GPS. By directly connecting a CANlink GSM 2001/2101 device to an existing CANopen network, messages can be sent directly from the CAN network by SMS, email, or fax. A direct data connection via CSD enables transparent transmission between two CANlink GSM devices. If a CANlink GSM 2001/2001 device is used to receive data, legacy software directly connected to the CAN bus system of a vehicle can be used for remote maintenance. An integrated TCP/IP stack enables the communication with the connected CAN bus system over Internet services and protocols such as e-mail and basic TCP/IP client/server.
