Shalco 4-103 Series machines make the most of commonly used cold box processes by reducing motions to a minimum. The blow chamber is stationary, to reduce spillage and sand movement in the blow had. The core box is moved only in the vertical plane, to eliminate the possibility of sand movement in the core box before gassing. The shuttle type gassing head speeds introduction of the vaporized catalyst.4-103 series

Shalco 4-103 Series are available in different capacities. Standard models have core boxes of 40" x 40" x 9" (1016 x 1016 x 229 mm). Maximum blown core weight is 200 lbs. (90kg) for the 4-103 and 250 lbs. (113 kg) for the 4-104. Model A machines have a maximum tooling weight of 4000 lbs. (1814 kg) while the Model 4-104 can handle core boxes up to 4500 lbs. (2045 kg).

The ruggedly constructed 4-103 Series machines feature rigid, all welded tubular steel frames, and are supplied fully equipped with all cylinders, valves and controls ready for installation and hook-up. Controls are either relay-operated solenoid valves, or programmable. All production sequences are timed automatically, with sand fill and gassing cycles precisely metered for consistent quality and control, cycle after cycle.
