Synchronous motors are often used in applications where precise speed is critical to the application. Shaded pole (asynchronous) motors offer higher levels of output power than synchronous motors however speed will vary under load.

The most important step lies in the accurate definition of the work that you require the motor and gearbox to perform. The selection of a suitable motor and gearbox can only be made if the torque and speed can be defined.
