CNC wheel set re-profiling lathe

The universal floor mounted wheelset lathes have been designed to perform the machining operations required on wheelsets disassembled from their bogies. Being universal lathes, their use can also be for general heavy duty turning operations.

The lathes can be equipped with Two carriages for the simultaneous machining of two wheels. A special Elevator system is available to perform the loading and unlading of the wheelset in automatic cycle. The wheelset Driving chuck with floating jaws has been specially designed to avoid any marking of the wheels.

In automatic cycle the following operations are executed:
- Turning of new and worn tyres
- Turning of worn wheels
- Internal and external facing of tyres
- Disc brakes facing
- Removing of rings
- Cutting of grooves
- Machining of rims
- Complete turning of axle
- Burnishing on wheel axles, bearing and disc brakes seats.
