OmniFlex™ R25 is a new fluoroelastomer material grade developed by Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. OmniFlex™ provides a moderate durometer – equivalent to EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) and silicone materials – yet has longer wear life, superior chemical resistance and better compression set.



In the Medical, Semiconductor, Chemical and Food Processing markets, cleanliness is critical, and for that reason manufacturers tend to prefer seals that are white or clear in color. The natural color of OmniFlex™ R25 is off-white, making it visually appealing to customers. Like all other versions of OmniFlex™ products, the OmniFlex™ R25 fluoroelastomer can be custom molded to meet specific application needs and existing hardware designs.


The challenge with the family of OmniFlex™ fluoroelastomers was to reduce its friction. By reducing the durometer, we were able to reduce its energizing force, which in turn, reduced its friction. OmniFlex™ R25 material provides low friction in addition to many other important OmniFlex™ material capabilities.
