Sankyo's Universal series is offered as an indexing unit in the DU series and an oscillator in the EU series. The narrow cast iron housing encases a large diameter globoidal cam to supply minimal input rotation for maximum output rotation. This unit is perfect for conveyor indexing, packaging machinery or matching velocity of other equipment. The DU series can perform two output revolutions to one input revolution. No other indexing unit can supply more output motion with minimal input rotation, not even a parallel index. This can eliminate the need for expensive clutch/brake or servo drives. Most oscillating units require two times the input degrees to perform a specific output motion; our EU series requires half or less. The output turret is mounted with dual tapered bearings which increase rigidity and maintain reliability.

These versatile units can index in both directions or oscillate. Most units are driven with geared motors that are within the height of the unit housing. An optional TC series torque limiting safety clutch mounts between the index output shaft and conveyor shaft to duplicate the same misalignment characteristics of a coupler. Our TF series clutch has a piloted centering flange for mounting dial plates or fixtures. Torque thresholds are easily adjusted without any disassembly and a proximity sensor detects overloads. Timing cam packages are available with inexpensive photo beam sensors or proximity switches for wash down applications.
