Rotor/Stator Units for analog/digital drives
The SMI Series rotor/stator units
are used in the production of liquid-cooled electrospindles and motospindles.
They are designed by Selca according to specific customer's needs and permit the tool to be coupled directly on the rotor built-in shaft. This solution allows torque transmission to the tool without losses due to frictions, thus reducing the overheating of the operating head.
They are characterized by the high power and by high rotation speed that reaches 30,000 rpm on some models.
On the SMI rotor/stator units it is possible to design the windings to enable on easy switching of the phase configuration. This feature allows to obtain a wide constant power range reaching ten times the rated speed.
The internal boring of the rotor is executed according to the customer's specifications so to permit the coupling with the toolholder shaft.
Following the customer's needs Selca can supply units with full balancing of rotating parts.

The integrated SMI rotor/stator units are composed of:
- Low losses rotor lamination stack with cage in cast aluminium or copper
- Low losses stator lamination stack with windings impregnated and temperature sensors
